A nearly unrecognizable Johnny Depp gives a madcap performance as a journalist – largely inspired by Thompson himself – navigating the desert and neon lights of Las Vegas alongside his attorney played by Benicio Del Toro. Fueled by a suitcase-full of mind-altering pharmaceutical drugs, the duo encounter a crazy assortment of characters along the way.
